A new spin to TCGs
Exceed was a trading card game my teammates and I came up with. It was inspired by yu-gi-oh and other similar popular TCGs but we came up with our spin on the genre. With an interesting new mechanic, it was a really unique design we came up with. By the end of the projects lifespan, we had actually come with a pretty balanced full fledged playable trading card game that was fun to play while being competitive. It was really interesting trying to come up with different cards of different tiers with clear strengths and combos but also have clear weaknesses or other cards to play around it to beat it. Basically we had to keep beating our own card by different cards but also had to keep in check the balance of the game. It was a really fun yet challenging task. We also focused heavily on the game mechanic and and card designs of the game and a little bit less on the art side of the project because of the 3 week time frame for this project. In the future we plan to fully flesh out the card game with actual art. The following design document below goes through the initial brainstorming, process, ideas and concepts, problems and issues, design decisions and a final write up on how the game works and how it is meant to be played.
